RCM visit to Granada
:: December 19th, 2016 ::
In December 2016, in partnership with my luthier of 15 years Stephen Hill, we arranged a cultural tour for a group of the Royal College of Music guitar students around Southern Spain, visiting Ronda, Granada, the Alhambra Palace, Los Olivos (Segovia’s hauntingly beautiful hill top home overlooking the sea) and Stephen’s workshop, both in La Herradura. Along the way we met many wonderful people including Paco Seco and his wife Lucy at the Ronda Guitar House and staged two concerts for the RCM guitarists. We also ate the most fantastic food, saw flamenco performed in its proper home, marvelled at the beauty of the landscape and laughed a lot. Thanks to Haydn Bateman, Jack Hancher, Alex Hart, Eirian Lewis and Nelly Von Alven who were great company and a credit to the RCM, and most of all to my good friend Stephen Hill, who was an incredible host and tour guide (and is now officially an RCM legend).
