6 Hands – with John Williams and John Etheridge
:: June 23rd, 2016 ::
June and July saw the first performances of 6 Hands with John Williams and John Etheridge. It was an amazing experience to perform with them and to meet with Julian Bream after our concert in Gillingham Dorset. The concerts mark a series of further dates running through 2016 and 2017, details of which can be found on my diary page.
Zender’s Winterreise – Britten Sinfonia, Barbican Arts Centre
:: May 9th, 2016 ::
It was a great experience to perform Zender’s Winterreise with the Britten Sinfonia at the Barbican in May. I have always loved the Barbican and spent many happy times there as a junior at the Guildhall School of Music.
Premiere of Kerry Tales – Royal Albert Hall
:: May 1st, 2016 ::
Berkshire Maestros gave a very fine first performance of my new guitar ensemble piece, Kerry Tales, at the Royal Albert Hall. The work consists of three movements inspired by the landscape and music of County Kerry in Ireland.
Gevelsberg Guitar Festival 2016
:: March 24th, 2016 ::
It was a great privilege to be appointed as the Artistic Director of the 2016 Gevelsberg International Guitar Festival in Germany and I have just returned from an inspiring week of playing, teaching and great company. We were treated to wonderful concerts from Antigoni Goni, Liying Zhu and Pavel Steidl and had many memorable and funny moments in the now legendary cellar of the Musikschule in the company of Hans -Werner Huppertz. Looking forward to 2017!

Further details to follow soon.
West Sussex Guitar Club
:: February 5th, 2016 ::
As ever it was a real pleasure to return to the West Sussex Guitar Club to adjudicate. Sasha Leftov and his wife Nina have created a very special musical venue and it is an honour to be one of the patrons of the club.
Edinburgh Competition Festival – Concerto Round
:: January 29th, 2016 ::
The standard at this year’s concerto competition was tremendous and it was a great pleasure to adjudicate over two days with Alan MacLean. The eventual finalists were Aileen Swinney (accordion), Violeta Cubarsi (violin), Hannah Foster (flute) and Iain Clarke (piano). Stockbridge Parish Church, where the event took place, is a very beautiful venue with excellent acoustics. There is also a sequence of five very beautiful paintings by Reinhardt Behrens depicting sea scapes at different times of the day.
Internationales Bergisches Guitarrenfestival
:: January 2nd, 2016 ::
2016 opened with a visit to Germany to play as part of the 2016 Bergisches Guitar Festival. The festival had a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and I really enjoyed playing as part of the event.
C6, Commonweal School – Swindon
:: December 10th, 2015 ::
Just before Christmas 2015 I had the pleasure of playing at C6, the new performing arts centre at Commonweal School in Swindon. It was also great to hear James Daubney and Rory Evans play – two very talented and creative young performers who also played as part of the evening.
